Your child might be coming home saying that they now have two art teachers! Its TRUE! Mrs. Elder had been asked to move art to a cart. As the ART team, we decided the best environment for teaching art would be to team teach and share the large art room. We now are teaching two art classes at once! Your children will be recieving learning inspirations from two wonderful teachers this year. So far the classes have been great and we look forward to working together! ABOVE- Mrs. Elder and I at an early release day art teacher's meeting. We were having too much fun together!!

WE HAVE BEEN BUSY!!

We have been busy creating amazing messy art! You may have noticed your little one coming home sprinkled with some paint? If so, no worries! All CWE artroom paint is washable. Pre-soaking or using a stain removing shouldn't be neccessary and most paints will come out with gently rubbing and water.

Ask your children what artist they're studying... these messy students made their own paper with paints and texture just like artist Eric Carle!

Its all about VALUE!!!

4TH and 5TH grade students are diving into the advance drawing techniques of creating value! Value in art is the lightness and darkness in a color or object. Students are learning how to apply Stippling, Hatching, Cross- hatching and shading with to their value drawings. If you would like to also learn these simple techniques- ask your child to sit down and show you. It might bring you back to your highschool art days.

Our students are completing their Young Masters artwork this week and looking forward to meeting our new artists to focus on. Kandinsky, Eric Carle, and value techniques are artists and techniques we will be addressing.

What is Young Masters? Young Masters is a company that takes artwork and showcases it on pruchased items. Cogburn has been working with a similar company in past and its a great way to raise money for the art program. Items can be purchased when your child brings home an order form. These personalized items are great for the upcoming holidays!

Look for a letter in the next thursday folders. For now, check out the website: youngmastersart.com
